For the past four years, I’ve celebrated the new year by going to Theodore Roosevelt Island for a run. Depending on what I’m training for, the run has varied in length anywhere from 5 to 12 miles. January 1, 2014 called for a 7-miler…a great opportunity on a sunny day to take in the National Mall. I don’t run here much to avoid the swarms of tourists, but in January you can get around with relative ease. New Years Day is always a great opportunity to think about goals for the upcoming year and where running can take you…a run like this is a great place to start!
