1.17.14 – 1.19.14: On MLK weekend we traveled to Charleston, SC to run the Charleston Half-Marathon and to do the bike ride the day after the run (more races should do this). I’ve always wanted to visit Charleston so I figured this would be a good excuse to do so and run around at the same time. An IT Band injury kept me a good 15 minutes off of my best time but didn’t flare up so badly that I couldn’t take in the architecture of the city. The pictures capture some of the sightseeing I was able to do pre- and post-run, as well as a couple of shots from the bike ride.
Of course, the drive down I-95 wouldn’t have been complete without a stop at South of the Border, just south of North Carolina as the name so cleverly implies. You can get almost any junky souvenir you can imagine here, all while stocking up on some fireworks.
