February Scenes

2.1.14, 2.9.14, 2.16.14: This February has been colder than normal and has seen more than its fair share of snow. This has made it challenging on more than one occasion to find good runs, especially long runs. And outside bike rides? Not so much.

Scenes from these three runs capture bits and pieces of what the month has had to offer, from a frozen Potomac along the Mount Vernon Trail to a thawed Rock Creek near Pierce Mill. The snow kept coming as the month went on, with over 10 inches falling just after President’s Day in Arlington along the W&OD trail. Fortunately by the weekend the trail had been plowed, allowing me to see the water flowing over the rocks in the Four Mile Run with the snow as a backdrop. It sure looks pretty, but hopefully warmer times lie ahead!
