8.15.14: This summer we planned our vacation around my husband’s Timberman 70.3 race in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. This was a great chance to escape the humidity of Washington DC and get in some runs for my Philadelphia Marathon training. The race was on Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in New Hampshire. This is NOT a flat area, and getting in runs of a moderate length usually involved running along the shoulder of major roads in order to reach the lakeside neighborhoods. Fortunately, on this run I was able to get to Governors Island and capture some scenes along the lake. One thing I noticed was the popularity of wooden bears in people’s yards. It was impossible not to smile as I was greeted by these bears!
