8.22.14: Deciding that we just didn’t want vacation to end, we made a pit stop on the way home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The Susquehanna River runs right through the center of the city, with a portion of the Capital Area Greenbelt alongside the eastern bank of the river. The trail is accessible from City Island via a bicycle and pedestrian bridge that crosses the Susquehanna. This was a great place for a run, offering expansive views of the river and the mountains to the north. On the way back we detoured a couple of blocks to the east so that we could catch a glimpse of the Pennsylvania State Capitol. At the end of our eight-miler, we took in a Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals AA affiliate) baseball game at Metro Bank Park on City Island…not a bad way to end a run!
