It’s Christmas Vacation

12.20.14 and 12.23.14: Traveling for the holidays means a lot of food and family time. Fortunately, running provides a good opportunity to explore different places while on the road, as well as justification to eat that extra cookie!

The first stop on our drive to Ohio was Morgantown, West Virginia for a 12-mile run. Morgantown has an expansive trail system along its rivers, providing a great venue for a longer run. Despite the hilliness of the town, the trails are generally flat to mildly-sloped due to their location along the Monongahela River and Deckers Creek.

Another running stop was in Columbus, Ohio, on the drive up to Cleveland. We ran a loop in and around downtown, passing a number of sights including the Scioto Mile, North Bank Park, and Goodale Park. A dam removal project on the Scioto River is currently underway, and we were able to witness some of the early progress as additional parkland is created along the river. I can’t wait to see what kind of progress has been made next time we visit!
