Spring in Warrenton

4.5.14: Last weekend, my husband was looking to do a bike ride with some rolling hills, so we headed to Warrenton, Virginia, where he used Old Town as a base to begin his ride. While he set out on his ride, I used the time as an opportunity to explore the town and get in an easy five-mile run.

The first part of my run was along the Warrenton Branch Greenway, a 1.5 mile facility along a former railroad spur. A number of railroad-related artifacts line the trail, including a restored caboose, signs, and a turntable for railcars. To finish off my run, I ran up and down the town’s Main Street, passing a number of Warrenton landmarks including Brentmoor and the Old Courthouse. Warrenton also close to the birthplace of former Chief Justice John Marshall, who is honored with a statue by the Courthouse.
